Princess diary Cafe

Me and my classmate Grace from Singapore decided to do something fun together during Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving day). Its a holiday where most koreans celebrate together with their families, and they go back to their hometowns. So did my boyfriend. Therefor I had no plans for almost a week, which was the time we got off school to celebrate. As one of my friends said "being a foreigner on Chuseok is like being single on valentines day". And Its so true! You know all koreans eat awesome foods with their family, while you have no family in Korea. Just like being alone in valentines right?

Therefor me and my friend wanted to check out a cool cafe together. Princess Diary Cafe near Ehwa Womens University. Princess Diary Cafe is a cafe where you can dress up in wedding clothes (oh yes, every females dream cafe!). They got clothes both for females and males, so if you actually can force your boyfriend to go there with you, good job!

The cafe is alittle pricy (of course). First you need to buy something to drink, can choose between tea, coffee, milkshake and so on. And then you get told to sit down and relax and drink your refreshment while waiting for your turn to try on a dress. The location is not superbig, so all cant try on at same time. They have many different wedding dresses to choose from (both long and short wedding dresses), korean traditional dresses also. You rent the dress you pick for an hour, and you get charged if you use it more than one hour, but they will tell you when its time to take it of,so dont worry. Renting a dress cost from 10,000 won to 35,000 won depending on the style you want. I choose the biggest dress I could find, so mine was ofcourse a little expensive.

When you have choosen your dress and when its your turn, the staff will help you to put it on. I was so happy that I could keep my jeans on while putting it on, dont wanna put it on just in my underwear infront of my female friend and female staff. Im shy, ok?
And if you dont have matching bra, dont worry, they even put a bra on you which is stropless. It amazed me how the staff knew my bra size just looking at my breasts??. Also they have high heels they make you wear, and they didnt even ask for my shoe size, and this time it was right size also! Weird right?

So after putting on the dress, you get one hour as I allready said, to take as many pictures as you can! And if you have forgot your camera, they actually have camera for rent there also.
You can put on many hair accesories also, like pirat hat, normal hats, big hair bows, tiara, you name it! They also got gloves, and plastic flowers too.

Let me show you my pictures I took at the cafe:

Some of the wedding dresses you can choose from in the dressing room

I chose milkshake while my friend chose rose tea

Pictures of people in their dresses inside the little house where we got our drinks

Me sitting infront of makeup mirror which you can use to put on tiara infront of.

A pic of my whole wedding dress I had on. And of course bunny ears, I love bunny ears!!!

Another pictures that is takes infront of the makeup mirror. I love the wall by the way

They also had a piano to take pictures with, cute right? Wish I could play piano! Todays random funfact.

Isnt the dress hugh?! It was so heavy I swear, But in my real wedding someday, it will be bigger! Ooh the pain.

The door in the background is actually the toilet, which you will get asked to use before putting on the dress.

I didnt actually mean to close my eyes, but I did. It looks like I really enjoy it, right?

I dont really look good in this picture, but the background is cute, so have to show it anyway.

So what do you think, would you go to a wedding cafe?
Actually what surprised me alot is that many brought their boyfriend there. I thought it would only be females there, but I was wrong.

Anyway, If you want to check it out and dress up in pretty clothes and take alot of pictures. Take subway line 2 (green line) to Ehwa womens university stop, Take exit two and walk down the mainstreet and turn right when you see starbucks. Then you will se a big sign that say Dress cafe, wollaaa you found it!!!

Now its time to get back to homework, teacher has given us homework to read a 100 pages book by tomorrow, and watch a 1 hour debate on youtube about free will...Oooh life is great as a student right?

Things I've done beside school

This is yet again another short update. As yesterday I'm writing this when I'm suppose to be sleeping. Its monday, so its school tomorrow, and now the clock is soon to be 1AM (01.00). But because of studying I havnt been able to go to bed yet.

Anyway, over to the reason why I'm actually blogging in the middle of the night... Tell you about my two last weeks beside school.

I've been quite busy everyday with alot of study after school. But because I think I'm doing such a great job with being a hard working student I'm allowed to take some days off just having fun times with my friends.

Some of the things I've been doing (Which I got pictures of):

Global Student Union Club Meeting

Went to korean bbq together with the club I signed up for. Club for koreans to meet foreigners and foreigners to meet koreans. Its meeting every friday. But I've only been to once this far. This was my first friday at school. It was an "get to know each other" meeting. Involving eating and drinking, welcome to university student life!!!

After eating korean bbq we went to a bar located not too far from where we ate. It was very fun and I met alot of other students from different majors. And many were foreigners. On campus I dont really see foreigners too often. So being able to hang out with some was very fun.

The night involved drinking alot of beer, and soju (korean alcohol). Koreans are so good at different drinking games, which are very fun but complicated.
My classmate Grace which I went there with left home more early before me because she was tierd and must get back to her dormitory before midnight. So I went to another place to eat chicken with two other students, A guy from US and one from Turkey. Think I went home around 4AM, and took a taxi because its was raining so badly!

Piano Paradiso concert.

The day after, on saturday I went together with Seul Gi to Seoul Olympic Park to see Piano Paradiso concert with 3 very known great pianists (Yiruma, Yuhki Kuramoto and Steve Barakatt). The Olympic Park is HUGH, and its so great for strolling around, and its cute rabbitts everywhere. So if you ever are in Seoul and wanna see a awesome park or wanna go picnic, go to Olympic Park.
I meet up with Seul Gi some hours before the concert so we could walk around the park just relaxing and enjoying our day together. The weather was very cloudy and some cold, so I was alittle worried of rain, because the concert was outside in the park. But, It didnt rain, so we were lucky!

Before the concert started. The concert started at 7PM, but it became dark outside after a short time after we sat down. And it was so beautiful sitting in the dark, with the pretty lighted scene and piano music.

Under the concert. Picture of Yiruma talking.  I must admit I almost died of cold, I was wearing a dress, bad choice I know. But the music was so pretty I forgot all about being cold most of the time. Many of the songs brought a tear to my eye.

63 buildning

I went on date to the 63 buildning together with Seul gi. Logically its a buildning with 63 floors. We went there quite late, after school. So we meet up around 6PM.
But because we arrived around 7PM to the subway station closest to the buildning and thats around dinnertime so we went to eat dinner first. We chose a vietnamese restaurant. And the food was simple, but very good!  Would go there again sometime.

After walking around for a long time after we ate dinner, we got totally lost. I mean, how hard can it be, just look for a tall buildning, right? But no, we didnt find it. So we took taxi there. Fail.

BUT. "We" found it at last (or the taxidriver did). The 63 buildning had alot of different things like cinema, aquarium, wax museum. But our mission was going to the 63rd floor. So for going to the top floor, must buy a ticket to take the elevator. The elevator is outside of the buildning so can see the view while going all the way to the top.

Because we came late the view was amazing! Seeing whole Seoul when its dark outside its so pretty. Its very perfect for dates, so If you ever wanna take your loved-one to somewhere with a beautiful view, go here at night. Where I took this picture the floor was made out of glass, so could see all the way down, cool right? It was very fun watching japanese girls scream as they realised they were standing on glassfloor.

One of the hallways on the top of the buildning. Not only does it have awesome view, but also art gallery for people to look at. So we spent some hours just being amazed by the view, and looking at art.

Pictures taken in the coffeeshop where we sat for a while taking and watching cars looking like toycars from our view.

So my conclusion after being to the 63 buildning is = I wanna live in an apartment with view like this.

Other random pictures:

In the shopping center near my School. This picture is from first time I went there. Together with Robert and Grace in my class. Didnt buy anything. But Robert was kind to show us around our school area.

My favorite food market around my place. Its very asian. Just a big tent-like market. But they got everything needed for cooking.

In Myongdong with Grace. Went there together to buy ourself fall jackets, because the weather is getting colder these days. Ended up buying a cream/pink/peach-ish color parka jacket from Forever 21. And I also needed new shoes, I only got summer shoes, like balleria shoes. So I bought a pair of this seasons converse shoes. Pink of course!

And oh, as you see in this picture and the other one me and Grace ate at a indian restaurant when we were in Myongdong. Very great food indeed!

But my best buy was these slippers. Seriously Ive been longing for buying slippers since I came to korea. When I go to the kitchen etc to get water, if I walk in my socks my socks become dirty on my way to the kitchen and back. And my feet are freezing in my room also if i dont have socks on. And I dont have many pair of socks, so walking without is somthing I do often.

Well...Thats it, Now I really need to sleep. Goodnight

My school

Time for a super quick update, its allready my "bedtime" so I will make this super quick. Its allready been 2 weeks since I started school. And sorry I havnt done any update since then, but my life is quite busy with study, meeting new friends, and try to have a fun the first semester.

I really like school so far, all the subjects are okay. Even economics which I was really afraid of. And must also mention that all my teachers are great also. One of the reasons why economics is"fun" is because of my awesome teacher, he is seriously very funny. And OH, my teacher in diplomacy really loves Norway (hope that is a bonus point for me hehehe).First class he showed alot of pictures of himself in Norway, and I got quite surprised when I walked into the classrom and I saw a big picture of the norwegian king on the power point on the wall. First I tought..."hmm... Seen that guy on that pic before...", then : " omg, its the norwegian king". Weird right?
Anyway, he workes as an diplomat in Norway, so thats why he showed so many pictures of Norway, and his time in Norway. He looked very happy when students had to introduce themself and I said Im from Norway, yeeey.

Guess its time for me to show some pictures of my university which I took during my first week.

One of the main buildning on campus which are located right infront of the front gate of the school. And the guy in the picture is one of my classmates, Robert from The US.

Just one of the buildnings. Not interesting really.

More buildnings ~~

Another of the main buildnings. Which also is infront of main gate of the school.

School exercise field for soccer, running etc.

Taken from school library which is huuugh, and complicated to use. Must reserve seat for study etc by using a machine in korean which looks like machine on cinemas for buying movie tickets. Can't really understand how to use it, yet!

In the glass buildning is one of my favorite coffee shops at campus located, hugh with many places to sit and read.

Outside the student buildning which got many different eating places, two coffee shops, 7/11,nail art saloon, photostudio, shop for buying glasses and contact lenses and so on.

Picture taken in class. I sit in front, because Im a geek.

And this is my classroom!

Tada, thats all the pictures I got of my campus so far. But its only been two weeks, so Im pretty sure i will post up like 10000 pictures more of my campus when Im staying here for 4 long years!

Will try update again tomorrow with what Ive done beside school.

Now its sleeping time, getting ready for a new week, and new typhoon coming to Seoul tomorrow, yeey!

Finally got a cellphone!!

Great news people. I finally got my cellphone!
Been living without a working cellphone since I came to Seoul. And as most females (and guys I guess too) living without a cellphone is not easy. Like, how can I gossip about the latest drama to my female friends without a phone? Impossible!!

To get a phone in Korea you must have two things.
* Alien reg.card which I've allready wrote about (I think?)
* and an korean bank account.

My alien reg.card I picked up some days ago at the immigration office before meeting up with my two awesome friends who where my classmates Yonsei. Jack and Felipe. We went eating pizza at Pizza Hut, drank coffee at a coffeshop and when Jack left me and felipe went to Norebang(karaoke room)

And yesterday before meeting up with Seul Gi again who helped me getting my phone, I went to bank alone to fix my account and check card. It was quite easy, and most people who work at banks are able too speak english. But In phone stores most people can't speak a word of english, only korean. So this is the part where you really really need a korean friend to help you out getting a phone.

Before going to buying a phone I had allready made up my mind about what phone I want. I ended up getting Samsung Galaxy S2. These days Galaxy S3 is really popular, so I had a hard choice choosing between S2 and S3, but I didn't really like the design on S3, S2 is alot prettier to look at, and for me design is very important.

So I ended up signing a Galaxy S2 contract. 50,000 won a month ( 250 NOK). Where I can use as much internet I want (which is very important for me, I love internet!) and 300 free sms. It was also like 200 minutes free calling, but Im more of an sms person, so will not use over 200 minutes calling, noooo way.

Anyway. This is what my phone looks like:

This is the front of my phone, I guess everybody has allready seen a Galaxy s2 cellphone allready. I chose it in white, because black is too boring. But still...Quite boring in white too. My old cellphone was blinged with crystals and had alot of things on it, and weighted a ton. So from going from an overblinged phone I really needed to make this one cute also. So I chose a penguin cover on my phone!( I love penguins, they are my favorite animal ever!)

This is the back of my phone. Say hallo to my cute penguin friend! I really need to give my penguin a name. Any ideas??

And what I really love about cellphones in Koreas is that all cellphones has TV! And it got alot of channels. Having a phone with tv is very useful in Korea. Atleast here in Seoul where taking the subway can sometimes take around one hour depending on where you are going. So its a great way to not feel bored while being on public transportation here.

I got myself a awesome phone right?
Have to stop writing now. Meeting up with Ingrid and her bf at Gangnam to eat dinner together in 2 hours (takes over one hour getting there, YEY for tv on phone!), really need to hurry up fixing my makeup. So talk later ~~

Myungdong + Etude House Lash Perm 3 Step Volumecara Mascara review

Hello again!

Went to Myungdong today with my friend Ingrid to do some shopping. Really need a new pair of jeans before school start because I only got one pair, kinda embarresing using same jeans every time right???
So I decided to buy a new pair. I first checked out my favorite store in Seoul, Forever 21. Which I guess most of you know allready. I think I tried around 20 pairs of jeans, all was right size, but didn't look so good on. So I ended up buying a pink cute cardigan there instead. I seriously can't go to Forever 21 without buying anything, because they got so many awesome things there. So ended up with a cardigan even if I had no plan to buy one. ( will show clothes buys etc in another update)

After Forever 21 me and Ingrid went to this well known place in Myungdong to eat out lunch together. So all times I've been there its always a big line, alot of people waiting to go inside to eat.

This is what we ate. A noodle soup with Mandu, meat and vegetables. Very yummy! But made me sooo full, omg.

So after eating we went to Zara, where I found my jeans! Zara is some expensive compared to many other brands in Korea, but for finding "the perfect" jeans its not too expensive. I bought navy blue pair of jeans which was the best one I tried on. But I only paid 69,000 won ( 350 NOK) for my jeans which is much here, but not much compared to what I use on jeans back in Norway.

But after Ingrid left I wanted to try finding some new underwear to buy, but ended up piercing my ears instead, weird thinking right? So now I got 3 new ear piercings.

But most importantly I went to Etude House which I quite love. I mean...Their stores are so cute, and their makeup are cheap.

This is what Etude House's store in Myungdong looks like by the way, cute right? all their stores got same kinda look. Pink and white.

So I've been seeing this mascara alot on commercials here in Korea. Its a new one from Etude House and it looks so interesting, so I've been wanting to try it out. Take a look at the commercial:

Kinda interesting right??
So I had to check it out. And it was cheap so I bought it to compare it to my Chanel mascara which is kinda expensive. Paid 13,000 Won (66 NOK), very cheap for a cute mascara!!

So let me first show you how my "naked" eye look like, free from all cosmetics

Very pale eyelashes, so without any mascara my eyelashes don't show at all.

But before showing you Etude House Lash Perm 3 Step Volumecara Mascara, this is how my eyes look with my expensive Chanel mascara:

I must admit I love my Chanel mascara. But now that I'm a student in Korea I can't spend money on buying a new one when the one I use now its too old or empty. So thats why I need to find something cheaper I can use, that fit my poor student budget. My Chanel mascara I bought for around 400 NOK if I'm not wrong(78 000 won, more than my new jeans HA!). What I like most about this mascara, is that it gives me quite must volume without looking like I got spiderlegs for eyelashes, which many cheap mascara's give. Lets compare it to Etude House Lash Perm 3 Step Volumecara Mascara.

To be honest....This cheap 13,000 won mascara from Etude House actually gives me more volume than my expensive one from Chanel, quite amazing right?? Only problem about this mascara is that it can more easilly give you those spiderlegs eyelashes if you are not careful when applying your mascara on your lashes. But for the price of this mascara I would totally recommand it to whoever who looks for an cheap mascara that gives volume and want that dolly look. It does give you what it promise when buying it, doll eyes!

Can also buy this mascara from pages like ebay etc. So if you think this review looks good, then hurry and buy!! Buy,buy, buuuuuuuuy!

Any other korean makeup products etc you want me to review, just give me a comment!

Byeyyyeyyyeeeyyyeeeee~~
